Glaswegian Barry Noakes is one of those artists that instantly draws you in with his thoughtful lyricism. Refusing to follow one specific genre, Barry’s forthcoming album ‘A New Dawn’ shines throughout with a fiercely folk, country-twang indie heart – what more could you want? Set for release May 1st, “A New Dawn” is refreshing and completely different from what you usually hear nowadays. While artists such as Cardi B and Doja Cat are the talk of the town, this is the type of music that deserves wider recognition. Put indie folk back in the limelight!
Sharing his thoughts on the album, Barry states, “Broadly speaking the album follows me from the point of the separation to thoughts of a brighter future and reconciliation with the past. I don’t like miserable though, so it’s all coloured with refreshing honesty and humour. My influences range across genres; from Indie bands such as Pixies, through Country artists such as John Prine, to great UK singer-songwriters such as Joan Armatrading. I’d say my music was now part-folk, part-country, part-indie but all heart”.
Versatile and blessing listeners with ten tracks straight from the heart, this uplifting release should be in everyone’s music library – now matter who you are and from what sort of background, this has something for everyone.
