Vienna is set to release her highly anticipated EP RYDA in only one day. This 18-year-old Alternative R&B and pop artist has already seen success with her music being featured on Spotify Editorial Playlist, BBC Radio 1, and Radio 1Xtra.
Vienna is teasing her upcoming EP RYDA with the release of her single Blank in Space, released April 7th, 2023. The lead single ‘Blank in Space’ merges slick production with an emotive performance from Vienna I. Drawing inspiration from old school DnB, R&B, and the more contemporary bedroom and alternative pop sounds, ‘Blank in Space’ represents a time of peace and self-empowerment after overworking oneself.
As the artist explains: “A lot of people talk about the struggle to get there and their success after but I don’t see a lot of people talk about the peace afterward which is just as important. This is what ‘Blank in Space’ is trying to portray.”
“I think the hardest thing about songwriting is having to truly be open about myself and who I am. I’ve always found it hard to speak about the things that affect me because I try to portray a hard exterior but my music really let my guard down. I’m not really used to that in real life. Having to dig deep not only into my experiences but into my emotions that I feel and felt during situations is difficult, but I love doing it anyway.”
Vienna has been writing songs since she was only 11, and by the age of 13 had written over 50 songs. Her previous EP XVIII saw the artist’s single Questions finish with over 15k streams on the platform, as well as airplay across BBC Introducing Essex and Radio 1. Another single ‘Wish I Knew’ enjoyed multiple plays across BBC Introducing Essex and BBC Radio 1Xtra.
