A duo comprising of Tom Tikka and lyricist Antti Autio which masquerades as a full band in the sense that Tom Tikka plays everything – hence the name – and with a mission to do everything they can to defy convention, The Impersonators originate from a living room rather than large recording facilities and give listeners the intimate feeling of listening to a live band with live instrumentals.
Taking influences from their new residence in Helsinki – a far cultural cry from their previous home in California – the band’s latest single release ‘Broken Snow’ addresses the existential notion that there aren’t that many happy endings for any of us, regardless of the Disney fantasies we build in our heads, but there are people who have the right attitude towards life’s tragedies and can find silver linings even in places where they don’t usually appear.

Their aim to share what is going on in their lives and build an emotional connection with listeners that is built on raw honesty elicits the duo to be felt in ways far more emotive than the average pop song. Tikka’s aim to ‘avoid the most simple “boy meets girl” and “girl meets boy” cliches and shallow relationship tunes’ allows their music a new lyrical depth and combined with their spacey guitars and mellow waves of multi-layered instrumentals, the band create a broad soundscape with cinematic tone – a precedent that has set up expectant anticipation for their forthcoming single ‘Sad Cafe’ on 22nd March.
