The metal group known as Plvguehvmmer recently released their debut EP, entitled Edgar Allen Wilde, on July 13th. Consisting of singer Juan G. and instrumentalist Niilo Smith, Plvguehvmmer has a tendency to make sure that everyone can rock out to their music, with regards to their music and their approach to creating music.

The lyrics of Edgar Allen Wilde consist of writings from Edgar Allen Poe’s and Oscar Wilde’s works, hence why the name of the EP is Edgar Allen Wilde. Juan G.’s otherworldly vocals present these lines of poetry in a truly unique sense that also extends the poetry to a new medium full of listeners that may not be familiar with the original works.

The words of Edgar Allen Poe and Oscar Wilde being sung by Juan G. does not look like it would go well with a heavy metal experimental style but looks can be deceiving. The three songs on the EP are “Ill Angels,” “Two Lives,” and “Left To Rot,” in that order and, on each song, Niilo Smith brings his musicianship to the foreground proving to impress virtually any listener. Each song shares their heavy backgrounds largely featuring drums, bass, and guitar but each one leaves the listener feeling a different emotion at the end of the track.
