Harpeet Bansal, the highly acclaimed composer and soloist, is set to release her latest work, called PARVAT, in a couple of weeks on February 11th. PARVAT is around a thirty-seven minute work that mixes genres of traditional North Indian music and jazz in a way that truly showcases the talent of Bansal. Her latest piece features the Norwegian Radio Orchestra and the Oslo Philharmonic soloist’s talents, which both collectively bring about a new and innovative sound to the realms of jazz and North Indian traditional music.

Harpeet Bansal had an early start in the world of music beginning at the age of two. Bansal’s first teacher was her own father and after that, Bansal has been studying under critically acclaimed Indian musicians like Dr. L Subramaniam and Kavita Krishnamurthi. She has also been seen touring throughout Europe, India, and Asia and was even the first person to study North Indian classical music at the Norwegian Academy of Music.

Bansal has since been nominated for a Grammy after the release of her second album and even played seven hundred concerts for children. Even more recently, she has been placed in the band Combonations with the late Solo Cissoko.

On PARVAT, Bansal plans on continuing her study and composition of North Indian traditional music through her inspirations of Indian classical music, her fellow contemporaries, and even classic rock. This dramatic set of movements, the first being about twenty minutes, the second being about twelve minutes, and the final being about seventeen minutes, creates their own set of soundscapes that have their own unique, yet connected, flair to them. From mysterious to thunderous activity, PARVAT does not disappoint.

Be sure to check out PARVAT when it is released in February and don’t forget to follow Harpeet Bansal on social media to stay up to date on her latest works!
