The singer-songwriter originally hailing from France, Jeremy Engel, recently released his latest pop-rock single on May 20th, entitled “Tell You Ma’.” Engel ended up moving to Dublin after discovering his love for Irish culture from both his admiration of Rory Gallagher’s “Irish Tour 1974” and his day job as a United Nations conference interpreter.
Jeremy Engel was able to capture his love for Irish culture in “Tell You Ma’.” Engel was sure to make Irish culture at the foreground of “Tell You Ma'” by recording the track at Dublin’s Windmill Lane Recording Studios and even using a Dublin landmark, the Customs House, as the cover.
With the track’s inclusion of guitar-heavy choruses paired with stripped verses, Engel made sure that the track was perfectly prepared before recording and releasing it to the public.
“This song “Tell You Ma’” is one of the first songs I ever wrote. It has been in my mind since I was 17. It took me 20 years before I decided to record it. I didn’t want to record it if I wasn’t ready, because I like to be able to do live what I can do in the studio. The groove had to be perfect too.” – Jeremy Engel
Any listener can hear the sensitive tone in Engel’s lyrics in the rock soundscape it finds itself in; Engel encourages listeners to discover what makes a home for someone and he hopes that everyone can find out what it means for a home to exist.
