On November 14th, legendary singer-songwriter and guitarist Aynsley Lister will be releasing his 8th and latest album called Along For The Ride, which will be released under his own label called Straight Talkin’ Records Ltd. This thirteen track album sees Lister combine influences from the genres of the 1960s and 1970s with the modern songwriting and producing qualities of today.
The lead single off of Along For The Ride is a track called “Made Up My Mind,” which arguably best features Lister’s emotional vocal range and guitar skillset. The song begins with a driving blues riff before Lister’s vocals enter in to tell a love story riddled with deep-seated issues that would seemingly last forever. When the chorus kicks in, the blues riffs end and the wailing guitar strums and backing vocals come in a way that highlights the skill and range of an artist like Aynsley Lister. After the second chorus, an impressive guitar solo by Lister gets the listener out of their seat and dancing along to the rest of the wonderfully crafted single.
The titular track of the album opens with Lister’s solo guitar that sets a mood quite differently than “Made Up My Mind.” “Along For The Ride” pulls more from alternative country stylings with slide guitar playing a more prominent role in setting the tone for the song. Lister decided to name the album after this song because the song’s meaning encompasses the preciousness of life and the beauty the coincides with it. Despite being in a quite different style, Lister’s guitar solo in this song serves as a more melodic display of his guitar-playing prowess and the solo perfectly fits with the rest of the song.
