Heavy Drunk, the son of the south soul musician, has teamed up with Visit Greenwood and their ‘Redeeming Robert Johnson’ campaign to restore the burial site of the legendary Blues figure, Robert Johnson.
To aid in this mission, Heavy Drunk has released his new album, You Don’t Know Me, and is eager to use his visibility to raise funds and awareness for the Church and Johnson’s gravesite. You Don’t Know Me is a 12-track album that pays homage to Robert Johnson and encompasses features from many talented artists. Backing the powerful vocals of Heavy Drunk are Prince’s trombone player Roy Agee, four-time Academy of Country Music Bass Player of the Year nominee Alison Prestwood, LA brothers The Deltaz on guitar and drums, and Dave & Sugar’s Etta Britt on vocals.
The album was recorded and mixed by Grammy-winning artist Casey Wasner, creating a true, soulful sound and experience. The lead single from You Don’t Know Me, ‘Love and Devotion’, is a moving gospel choir adored with Heavy Drunk’s gravelly vocals over the jazzy-blues sound manger In addition to his passion for music, Heavy Drunk is also well-known in the culinary world. He and his wife have owned, restored and operated the Puckett’s of Leiper’s Fork, making over 10,000 pies and smoking over 700,000 lbs of BBQ. Heavy Drunk is using his platform and You Don’t Know Me to make a lasting impact and hopefully restore the Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church and Robert Johnson’s grave.
