Jah Decko has already earned attention across a range of reggae publications and broadcasters. His music has received coverage from Reggae Tastemaker, World A Reggae, Reggaeville, Reggae Festival Guide, Reggae Agenda and Ovejas Negrax, while French station La Grosse Radio has supported his work with repeated airplay. With the forthcoming Love Who Loves You Back, he is aiming to build on that foundation and reach a wider UK and international audience.
The Suriname-born, Netherlands-based artist is not making his first steps into reggae. His career began in 2003 with Dreddayouthz, an early project combining roots reggae and lyrics in Sranan Tongo. Before pursuing music fully, he spent approximately fourteen years as a professional footballer, making his eventual move into reggae a substantial change of direction.
Over the following years, Jah Decko developed a career that extended beyond his own performances. His work through Dredda Records included production for Joggo, Ziggi Recado and Miriam Simone. He also featured with Turbulence on “Strong Like Lion” from Modern Rockers Vol. 1, adding an international collaboration to his recording history.
More recent chapters have included the Rastafar-I Way EP and tracks such as “Take It Easy,” “Opposite of Good” and “Irie Vibes.” The forthcoming album draws those experiences into a roots reggae project built around authentic musicianship, love and gratitude. Its themes also reflect his Rastafari outlook, with consciousness, respect and positive energy central to his approach.
Alongside specialist reggae support, Jah Decko has been featured by NPO Soul & Jazz through its Sound of Surinam series. Love Who Loves You Back now offers a further opportunity to introduce his work to listeners beyond that established audience. For an artist who has spent years both producing others and developing his own material, the album marks a fresh step forward without leaving his roots behind.
