For Amana Melome’, returning to music has been closely connected to motherhood. After becoming a mother, she stepped back from her musical career to concentrate on raising her daughter. As her daughter has grown older, Melome’ has found the freedom to reconnect with her music and creative identity—a personal shift that informs her forthcoming album, Recalibrated The Remixes.
Set for release on 25 September 2026, the record marks the final chapter of the journey begun with Recalibration. Its focus is the point at which searching gives way to self-acceptance. “I wanted to rejoice in the affirmations of strength, embracing every aspect of who I am and my inner magic in these songs,” Melome’ says of her decision to make the remix collection.
That outlook is particularly clear in “SO DONE!,” which receives a remix by Cee Elassaad and Joel Holmes. Melome’ describes the song as a farewell to limiting beliefs and outdated versions of herself: “Done with playing small, done with playing it safe.” The album also revisits “Con C.ALMA” and “Recalibration,” with contributions from Somos Animales, Eli Anai, Opolopo, GodBlessComputers and Saverio ‘Sage’ Principini spanning dub, funk, disco and several forms of house.
Lead single “Space Age Mama Jama Recalibrated” connects this new chapter with her earliest recorded work. First featured on her debut album Indigo Red! more than ten years ago, the song has been reimagined with original producer Principini and pianist Deron Johnson. Melome’ views the return as a chance to inhabit the bold character she envisioned when she first wrote it, now with a different understanding of herself.
Her creative life remains broader than music alone. The Marbella-based artist also works in writing, painting, ceramics and dance, drawing on a multicultural upbringing and a family history rooted in performance. On Recalibrated The Remixes, that varied background supports a specific personal statement: a return to music that celebrates who she has become rather than simply looking back at where she began.
