August 6th saw the release of “Trying to Live” from the up-and-coming blues rock artist Teddy Serkin. Teddy Serkin is relatively new to the music scene, debuting in 2020, but is nonetheless making big strides already. If Serkin is not performing or playing music, there is no telling what he may be up to; the blues rock artist has a PhD, is an engineer, scientist, and university lecturer, while also having a past in racing, table tennis, football, and skiing. There is no limitation in music or otherwise for Teddy Serkin.
For “Trying to Live,” Teddy Serkin attempts to blend the grittiness of the blues rock genre with an emotionality that only someone like Teddy Serkin can provide. Serkin’s mixing of ethereal keys with dirty guitar produces a unique soundscape that is very reminiscent of The Black Keys and just as good.
“Trying to Live” comes after the release of Serkin’s EP, called Twins, which was release on July 30th of the same year. Twins shows the dynamic range of Serkin’s music with one song including disco elements to another song including synth-pop elements to a third song including soft-industrial elements. “Trying to Live” and its blues rock elements further expands upon the amazing range of an artist like Teddy Serkin.
