Former frontman from Sheffield band Kartica Mat Hook releases first solo single ‘Runaway Road’ alongside re-releasing favourite Kartica song ‘Dare to Dream’. ‘Runaway Road’ is a stripped back acoustic ballad that was recorded live at Son of the City Studio. Honouring his emotional journey throughout the music industry, Mat Hook is now enlightened with which directions he sees himself going which can seen throughout his recent releases.
With a simple guitar line and Mats vocal, the song ‘Runaway Road’ has soul that shines throughout. With a deep voice that creates a warm tone throughout, the song is powerful both lyrically and in spirit. Pulling away from fancy productions and layers of instruments allow this song to shine out as simplistic but passionate songwriter and shows Mat Hooks full set of skills.
“This developed into a real shot in the dark at starting my own league. The decision to do so was done in one day. I registered a website that morning, spoke to the local FA that afternoon and soon went out on the street, alone, somewhat comically, recruiting teams. It was a real one-man-mission. Roughly 3 months later, I had 6 teams of amateur footballers heading down to play every Wednesday night.”
